If you didn't already know this, you probably won't be too surprised to learn that "not having enough time" is the number one reason that Americans state why they are not exercising or living a healthy lifestyle. WebMD, Excercise.com, VeryWellFit, and countless other studies and organizations are all in sync with this. In fact, the biggest reason why Swamp Fitness was created was to combat the "I don't have enough time" mindset by matching each of our clients with a personal trainer who can travel to their home (or their preferred location) while working around their busy schedule. Now that's what we call personal training at your convenience!
Digging a little deeper, why is "not having enough time" the number reason for not exercising enough? The answer is because other priorities in life are coming before your personal fitness (or before maintaining necessary habits to live a healthy lifestyle). These other priorities might not be adding much (or any) value to your life; such as too much TV, games, or drug abuse. However, prioritizing family, work, relationships, etc. might be legitimately perceived as more important than taking care of yourself. As a personal trainer, I know I might sound biased, but the truth is that exercising regularly can significantly help you improve these other important areas of life that mean so much to you.
We know that exercising is very important because we hear it from our doctors all of the time... Here is an educational video where Dr. Mike Evans breaks down why exercise is the single best thing we can do for our health and he also challenges our perspective on not having enough time for it. If exercise were a prescription drug, it would be the highest demanded drug on the pharmeceutical market by far. Let that sink in for a moment!
Now, let's dig even deeper! Psychology Today states that The Real Reason We Don't Exercise comes down to our desire to avoid any experience of discomfort. Exercise is uncomfortable for most of us in our society where we like to keep the air and water temperature adjusted to the perfect level all year long and we are so used to coming home to our perfectly soft beds each and every evening...
